2019 has been a year of many accomplishments. Forever homes were found for almost 250 dogs this year.
We developed programs to help us better care for the dogs in the building while they were with us before finding their forever home. To reduce their stress we revamped their kennel spaces, giving them a private area to be in if they wanted. Mealtimes are enrichment activities. They enjoy field trips on a regular basis.

From a behavior & training standpoint, there are now two part time trainers who have different focuses on the care of our dogs. We are now offering classes and workshops to volunteers and the public. We have more enrichment activities for our dogs. Adopters have resources available and follow ups are made to make sure their transition is going well. There is more one-on-one training for individuals dogs with structured plans for any dogs that need more training in specific areas.

From a financial standpoint it has been an area in which we are learning where to refocus our efforts. MCR is totally donation based. There is no funding that comes from outside sources with the exception of grants. With the new changes in the tax law individual donations have declined so the focus is changing. A sponsorship program is being developed and we will work on more corporate sponsorships. Giving Tuesday was very successful raising over $17,000. We appreciate the Treasure Valley community and all that they do for us, thank you! And also a special thanks to our staff and volunteers, we couldn’t do it without you!
