Through Their Eyes: Rescuers Return to the Kennels for a Full 24 Hours
The humans at Meridian Canine Rescue are delighted to announce their second “Through Their Eyes” event. First held in July 2017, this event is a unique showcase for the dogs and people at MCR. For a full 24 hours, volunteers and staff live inside of the kennels with select dogs who are waiting to be adopted. The event begins on Friday at 6:00 pm.
The idea for “Through Their Eyes” arose after MCR staff saw that, despite the unique personalities that have endeared them to people within the organization, some dogs are routinely overlooked by prospective adopters. In an effort to better promote the individual dogs and their quirky personalities, rescuers live with them and document the experience on MCR’s Facebook page. Caitlyn Phillips, Kennel Attendant at the local rescue, says that she’s eager to partner with her former foster dog, Buddy. “I’m really excited to be on #TeamBuddy. He was living with me in foster for a while, and so we have already become great cuddle partners.”
In addition to #TeamBuddy, there will be thirteen human-dog partnerships for the shared kennel experience. Volunteers and staff will enter the kennels on Friday evening and share updates from the other side of the kennel door throughout the event. Supporters can follow their favorite teams on Facebook, so be sure to tune in. This time around, MCR is hoping to raise money while promoting adoptions: just a little friendly competition to see which teams get the most love from the local community. Donations can be made online or in person and are used to support MCR’s care of homeless dogs. Meet-and-greets with available dogs can take place Saturday starting at 12:00 noon. The Rescue is located at 501 E Scenery Ln, Ste 100 in Meridian.
