Covid-19 plan

Meridian Canine Rescue is actively responding to the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting needs of our community. Our website will be updated often in order to provide the most accurate, current information about our organization.

As of June 1st, 2020:

  • We are no longer open to the public.
  • We continue to care for and accept dogs via surrender and transfer (by appointment); we are placing most incoming dogs into waiting foster homes.
  • Travel (for transfers, surrenders, adoptions, etc.) is restricted to Idaho state.
  • Staff is performing essential on-site care, while volunteers are assisting with off-site tasks and foster care.
  • We are using effective sanitation protocols, per the recommendations of shelter and health agencies.
  • We are practicing social distancing and working remotely whenever possible.
  • We are performing adoptions by appointment only.
  • We are offering care packages and online training and education to the public.
  • We are offering free dog food to members of the public while supplies last. Email to place a request.
  • We need your help.

How to adopt

Until further notice, Meridian Canine Rescue is closed to the public. We are meeting with prospective adopters by appointment only.

how to prepare

We are relying on the following sources for information about the coronavirus pandemic.

how to help

Right now, our two biggest needs are adoptions and monetary donations.

Our spring fundraisers are mostly canceled. And this year’s average monthly expenses equal $21,800. We’re cutting costs as much as we can — but we can’t give up on our dogs.

Care Packages

*Only available to Ada County residents.

If you live outside of this county, we will cancel the order.

Our Care Packages are designed to help our friends care for their dogs at home. Please note that these packages are available while supplies last and that we will frequently update this section to show what’s available.

Each package has been assembled by MCR staff and volunteers and includes both new and used (clean) items. MCR volunteers will deliver your order to your home. Orders placed after 6 pm will be processed the following day.

Care Packages are free. But if you’re able, please donate to support our community services.
