Meridian Canine Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill canine rescue dedicated to giving homeless and owner surrendered dogs a second chance. We have both a facility and a network of foster homes, several staff members, great business partnerships, and a whole bunch of awesome volunteers -- all of which help us care for dogs in need.

We adhere to the Best Friends' definition of a no-kill community, and we're working with other shelters and rescues to make Idaho a no-kill state by 2025We believe euthanasia is a last resort and reserve it for dogs who are irremediably suffering mentally or physically, terminally ill, or considered dangerous to themselves, other animals, and/or humans.  Any healthy or otherwise treatable dog will not be considered for euthanasia, when alternatives exist to save them.

The Meridian Canine Rescue endeavors to become a leader in the regional community, setting an example of an innovative animal welfare organization that practices force- and fear-free methods of dog handling; that provides the safest and best possible placement for all dogs from intake to adoption; and that prioritizes training, education, and kindness when working with dogs and humans.

Transparency: openly and honestly representing ourselves and our organization to others. Individuality: telling our dogs’ unique stories, advocating for their needs, and embracing their quirks. Commitment: standing up for our dogs now and in the future and giving them every chance to find their best home. Acceptance: treating all dogs and people with kindness and patience.

We believe in a community-centered approach to saving lives. Our volunteers and staff work to provide the best possible experience for our dogs while they wait to be adopted, and sometimes, that means opening up our homes to dogs in need. Click here to find out more about our foster program.

With over 100 active volunteers in our organization, MCR's team continues to grow and thrive. We are always looking for dedicated, compassionate, dog-loving people to help us save more lives.
